In a landmark move for the HRtech sector, Madrid-based startup Shakers has successfully closed a €6 million seed funding round. This significant capital influx marks a pivotal moment for the company, founded in 2021 by Héctor Mata, Jaime Castillo, Adrián de Pedro, and Nico de Luis.

Revolutionizing Team Building and Freelancer Collaboration

Shakers has established itself as a trailblazer in simplifying the collaboration between companies and freelancers. Specializing in fields such as mobile app development, cloud migrations, generative AI, data analysis, and cybersecurity, Shakers' platform empowers companies to connect with digital specialists efficiently. This unique approach addresses the growing need for agile and dynamic team-building in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Expanding Horizons

With the new funding, Shakers aims to expand its operations and business reach, both domestically and internationally. The company's operating system, which has already attracted over 3,000 tech freelancers and supported more than 450 companies, including giants like Inditex, Uber, and Telefónica, is set for further development. This expansion will include enhancing its proprietary AI technology, which combines behavioral science to assemble teams with the ideal skill set for a company’s product mission.

A New Era for Work

Shakers' vision is to reinvent work. The company envisions a world where companies and digital workers connect swiftly and efficiently to develop high-impact projects. Their innovative operating system allows for quick and effective collaboration between companies and freelance teams, a significant leap from traditional freelancer directories that often focus on casual, low-quality work.

Backing by Leading Investors

The seed round was led by Adevinta Ventures (whose parent company owns InfoJobs, Spain’s leading employment platform), Brighteye Ventures, Athos Capital, and Wayra (Telefónica’s open innovation program). Notably, the round also saw participation from Clave Capital, CDTI Innvierte, and business angels like Hilario Albarracín, former president of KPMG.

A Model for the Future

The Shakers model promotes a new category of workers called "freeworkers", highly skilled individuals who prefer long-term, high value-added projects. This innovative approach is set to redefine the traditional labor market, making Shakers a potential trendsetter in HRtech.

Conclusion

Shakers' seed funding round not only injects vital capital into the company but also signals a significant shift in the HRtech landscape. By bridging the gap between companies and digital specialists, Shakers is poised to lead the charge in redefining how businesses build and manage external teams in a digital-first world.
